Recent In Dnepropetrovsk: Sergey Milyutin (head of the information department), Former Prime Minister Campbell, and Nadezhda Podoplelova (Governor deputy - head of the regional administration body). Ms. Campbell was there to participate in a round table discussion: “Raising Dnepropetrovsk Region Economic Competitiveness.” at the Dnepropetrovsk State Regional Administration. It also marked the launch of the Foundation for Effective Governance's project on development of strategy for boosting Dnepropetrovsk Region Competitiveness. The event organizers were the Foundation for Effective Governance of Ukraine and Dnepropetrovsk State Regional Administration.

Right Honourable Kim Campbell was the host/featured speaker at a discussion on democratic development at the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia on April 15th, 2010. During the discussion Ms. Campbell provided examples of democratic issues and challenges facing other countries around the world, including Canada, which are relevant to the situation in Indonesia. The participants, who represented a wide range of well-known Indonesian civil society and academic institutions, passionately shared their views and opinions on the state of democracy in Indonesia. As a result of the discussion, fresh ideas emerged on ways to overcome challenges and to ensure the continuation of democratic development in Indonesia.

The debate “Ukrainian universities are failing their students” was the seventh in a series of public debates in Ukraine carried out in the Oxford Union style and included participants: Vitaly Butenko, Chief Strategy Officer of DTEK and Sergiy Kvyt, President of the National University “Kyiv Mohyla Academy.”
FEG's director, Natalyia Izosimova, explains, “The goal of debates is to arrange an informative and efficient conversation on those issues of Ukraine’s economy development on which we don’t have a clear and simple answer. At the same time the debates are important both for the present and the future of Ukraine.”

The conference was aimed at:
- Generating public discussion on specific reforms of Macedonia’s electoral code; and
- Engaging political parties, members of parliament (MPs), academia, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and others in a wider debate about the positive and negative aspects of open and closed candidate lists.

Former Prime Minister Campbell participated in one of the Intelligence Squared debates. Ms. Campbell took the role of one of the speakers against the motion: "Free-market capitalism is so 20th century." The lively debate took place at the Royal Geographical Society in front of a sold-out crowd on October 29th, 2009. Other speakers included Ian Bremmer, Paul Mason, Jean Pisani-Ferry, Vince Campbel MP, Stephen King and the debate was chaired by Rory Bremner.

Moscow, Russia. Former Prime Minister Campbell delivered the closing speech for the conference “Ukraine: Opportunities and Challenges,” which was organized by the Foundation for Effective Governance in cooperation with Russian daily newspaper Vedomosti. The purpose of the conference was to inform the stakeholders in Russia and Ukraine about the agenda of forthcoming Ukrainian economic reforms. The meeting also provided political and business circles of the two countries with a platform for a constructive discussion during which they could clarify their positions and vision, exchange experience, explore different strategies for overcoming the crisis and develop mutually beneficial ways of economic cooperation.

Their foundation developed the SGI as an OECD complementary to the Bertelsmann Transformation Index focusing on the reform requirements and capabilities of consolidated democracies.

It was the 10th Annual Forum 2000 Conference. In 2005, a series was launched that was dedicated to the nature and meaning of the current conflicts that prevent peaceful coexistence of the international community and the 2006 conference continued as a part of that series.
The Forum 2000 was founded in 1996 as a joint initiative of the Czech President Václav Havel, Japanese philanthropist Yohei Sasakawa, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel.
The Forum 2000 Conferences and other events organized by the Forum 2000 Foundation are held in Prague, Czech Republic. Since 1997, Forum 2000 has organized eleven annual conferences which have attracted a number of prominent thought leaders, Nobel laureates, former and acting politicians, business leaders and other individuals, whose common denominative is experience with bearing responsibility. H.R.H. Prince Hassan bin Talal, Yohei Sasakawa, Frederik Willem de Klerk, Bill Clinton, Oscar Arias Sánchez, H.H. the Dalai Lama, Hans Küng, Shimon Peres, Mario Soares, Hana Suchocká, Sergey Kovalyov, Jorge Castaneda, Madeleine Albright, and Wole Soyinka are just a few of those who have attended the Forum 2000 events.
