Vancouver, Canada. Kim Campbell spoke at the Association of Women in Finance PEAK Awards on May 14, 2009. AWF is a non-profit in Vancouver, BC Canada that develops and supports a community of professional women in the field of finance by encouraging women to enter the field of finance through scholarship programs & mentoring for the professional advancement of women at all stages of their careers. Members are executives, CEOs, financiers, lawyers, accountants, actuaries, venture capitalists, insurers, controllers and entrepreneurs and are employed in both industry and public practice in a wide range of industries and company sizes. This year the AWF and Vancity presented the 12th Annual PEAK Awards to recognize and celebrate women for achieving excellence in their work, community and lives. Their gala and fundraising dinner funds scholarships and mentoring programs and helps promote local businesses through a silent auction. The theme of the evening was, “There’s No Place Like Home” and attendees sported red shoes in keeping with the theme. All proceeds supported the PEAK Scholarship Fund.

Kim Campbell was a featured guest and spoke of the importance of the financial industry, public service and community. Afterward, attendees were buzzing about Campbell’s speech and commented, “I didn’t realize Kim Campbell was such a good speaker, clearly passionate about the advancement of women and her arguments had me thinking all the way home.” and “She was amazing, inspiring and provocative."

After the event Raewyn Brewer the [AWF PEAK Director] said, "Kim Campbell is one of the most brilliant, engaging and passionate speakers in Canadian political history.  She is relevant, understands local, national and global community and speaks to current issues with historical knowledge.  Our 350 guests at the 2009 Association of Women in Finance PEAK Awards left our gala and fundraising dinner having learned, laughed and listened with joy and ease."
